About
About Annona
Annona is a Dutch impact finance firm that connects specialty coffee producers in Latin America and Africa to European markets — financing, marketing and servicing the full chain from origin to cup.
What we do
We finance green coffee at the source through repurchase agreements, hold consignment stock in European warehouses, and factor invoices for roasters and brands. Beyond financing, we actively market specialty coffees to European buyers, curate and roast for private-label clients, and provide full logistics. Everything runs through our digital platform — connecting exporters, roasters and investors with real-time data, traceability and EUDR compliance.
Our position
Annona operates in the space between commercial trade finance and development finance. Banks rarely finance deep into agricultural supply chains; NGOs lack the commercial discipline to scale. We combine both — structuring transactions through a ringfenced SPV that is attractive to institutional investors while reaching smallholder producers that conventional lenders cannot serve.
Impact investing heritage
Through Annona Sustainable Investments, we managed an SME fund for over a decade — investing equity, hybrid and debt capital in agri-food and sustainable tourism businesses across Latin America and Africa. Portfolio companies included Caravela Coffee (Colombia), Asilia Africa (East Africa), Agricafé (Bolivia) and Expohort (Mexico). The fund is now closed, but this experience deeply informs how we structure and manage risk today.
