The story
Producer Jose Arnulfo "Fito" Montiel was awarded the Cup of Excellence in 2006 (fourth place) and in 2007 (second place). That same year, the French Agency for Agricultural Product Assessment (AVPA) granted him the silver medal in the category of Washed Arabica Coffee.
He was among the first producers to plant Pacamara. His first parcel was established in the year 2000 in the La Hondurita community. He is a second-generation grower in his family, and is mentoring his son Jose for a generational handover.
At La Hondurita they use three processing methods: washed with 48–72 hours natural fermentation, honey (pulped, fermented 48 hours, then dried), and natural (fermented 24 hours, dried in beds for 36–42 days).
